Born in Alton, Illinois, the hometown of Miles Davis, Kimberly was nicknamed “Hot Sauce” by a sassy 4-year-old friend. She grew up singing in the church, middle school and high school choirs, where she also debuted in her first musical as Rose Alvarez in Bye Bye Birdie. Following her passion for performing arts, Kim attended The American Music and Dramatic Academy in New York and tried her hand in musicals such as Nunsense, Big River and over a dozen more musicals on stages all over the country. Known for her years singing gospel, R & B, Rock & Roll and musical theatre, jazz was prevalent in Kim’s life until she moved to Chicago, where the Blues called to her – taking her singing to a deeper level. Kim says “I love the freedom that blues gives you. It’s so liberating and soulful.” Kim was inspired by Blues legends Koko Taylor, Etta James, Big Mama Thornton, Bessie Smith, and her favorites, Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner. She has performed on numerous stages with musical groups in Chicago and abroad, including at the Hondarribia and Bilbao Blues Festivals in Spain. Kim’s energetic performance and voice will leave you wanting more every time.
